Hi!
Welcome to my website. My name is Sheri Bell-Rehwoldt and I write children's books. I don't have kids of my own, but I have LOTS of nieces and nephews, so I always pretend I'm writing for them.
Do you like writing? And reading? Me, too! In fact, one of my favorite places to be is in a library...or bookstore...or on my couch, with a cup of tea in one hand and a great book in the other. I love funny picture books. And I love mysteries, histories and science fiction. What are your favorites?
I hope you enjoy visiting my website. And I hope you'll read my books and let me know what you think of them. Email me if you want to talk about writing or my books!

Make Your Own Secret Boiled Egg Message Some agents carried secret messages over enemy lines - written in "invisible" ink - Some also used code grills. The grills were one of the safest ways to carry secret messages. |

The Maya built awesome limestone pyramids. In their temples at the top, as they towered over the gathered masses, the priests conducted their human sacrifices! Make Your Own Maya Flash Cards The Maya used a counting system that was based on the number 20 -- perhaps because they had 10 fingers and 10 toes. But what's so amazing is that using just three symbols, the Maya could write down whatever number they wanted -- even into the millions. Cool! |

By Sheri Bell-Rehwoldt **Two First-Prize Wins! Children's Books, Fiction You think it's easy being the Tooth Fairy? Think again -- of stormy nights, dangerous pets, pearly whites hidden in pajama pockets or wrapped in dirty tissues, to say nothing of all those thousands of teeth falling out all over the world every single day. The Tooth Fairy's nights are long and hard. But she's up for it. She never misses a tooth. How does she do it? For the first time ever, she reveals everything right here! Click here to read an interview with me and my illustrator, David Slonim. Click here to hear a blog radio interview I did for Book Bites for Kids. |

By Sheri Bell-Rehwoldt Two First-Prize Wins! Children's Books, Non-Fiction Did you know the ancient Maya were really smart? Yup! This activity book shows you that the Maya were the FIRST people on earth to use the zero in mathematical equations, that they could chart the planets and stars with just their eyes, and build towering pyramids without the help of metal tools, pack animals or wheeled carts! I've also included lots of juicy details on their human sacrifices, war raids, and strict class system. Slaves were painted black and white! Learn it all as you make a Ceremonial Death Mask, Cornhusk Hat, Soap Glyph Carving, War Banner, Ruin Map of the Maya Homeland, Pyramid Model, Maya Counting Flash Cards and much more! |

By Sheri Bell-Rehwoldt Think you're interested in an art-related career? This book, aimed at junior and high school students, highlights five careers based on artistic skill: conservator, jewelry designer, sculptor, graphic designer and art therapist. They offer a good sampling of the range of careers available in this wide-open field. I interviewed lots of people working in these jobs, so that I could give you a "real" picture of what it's like to do the job, the fastest way to set yourself on the same path, and what you can expect in regards to work hours, needed training and salary.

Tuesday
Fun, fun! Soon I'll have a tooth fairy doll to go with my tooth fairy book. Look at her! Gotta love that nose! She's only at the muslin pattern stage in this photo, but I can already tell she's going to be as feisty as her book character!
Friday
I can't wait for my three "boy books" to come out later this year! Being published by Capstone Press, the titles are: The Kids' Guide to Building Cool Stuff (ISBN 978-1429622769), The Kids' Guide to Classic Games (ISBN 978-1429622738), and The Kid's Guide to Pranks, Tricks and Practical Jokes (ISBN 978-1429622752). Boys have told me they can't wait to try out the recipes for fake poop and vomit! Hey! Whatever it takes to keep them reading! HA!
Wednesday
Today I visited South Buffalo Charter School to do two assemblies, one for kids in grades K-4, the other for kids in grades 5-8. The kids were stellar! We had a lot of fun together. Thanks, Mrs. Noonan (the school librarian), for inviting me! I had a great time talking about the tooth fairy and what it's like being an author! Look at this photo! This little girl's tooth fell out right after she got back to her classroom!
Saturday
Look at this adorable card two little girls sent me! Thanks, kids!
Tuesday
So, one of my young readers recently asked me what "Make like a tooth brush" means. I was so surprised! Silly me! When the French version comes out soon, I wonder if I'll receive emails from kids in Paris?!
Thursday
I just got back from my seventh book signing with Lord & Taylor. This generous retailer has purchased more than 1,000 tooth fairy books, which they've had me sign during special community events. That's one
reason why You Think It's Easy Being the Tooth Fairy? is closing in on 11,000 copies sold!!!!
Tuesday
My number one fan is my niece, Emily Candaffio, whom I suspect will also become a writer. She even recently interviewed me, along with her whole Girl Scout troop, so the gals could earn yet another Girl Scout badge. Here's a photo her mom sent me of Emily reading Tooth to some of the gang. Here's another. Thanks, Emily!
Saturday
Just so you know, book readings don't always go like I hope they will. Wanna read a funny story in which I look like an idiot? HA! Then click here to read what happened when I tried to give a mini lesson in flossing!
Friday
Hey, kids! I just found out that Tooth has sold more than 8,000 copies in its first six months! That means it's going back to the printer for a second printing of 6,000 more copies! Yay! The Tooth Fairy's story is getting around! I hope you've read her story by now. If you have, email me and let me know what you think the Tooth Fairy should do next!!
Tuesday
I was looking over the website of Tooth's fabulous illustrator, David Slonim, and laughed out loud. Click here to find out how one third grade teacher used You Think It's Easy Being the Tooth Fairy in class!
Sunday
I had a great time at Barnes & Noble yesterday at another reading of Tooth. Here are some photos. The kids were super! Beside reading Tooth, I taught them some "toothy" Knock-Knock jokes, a "toothy" brush/floss song, and a "toothy" game with dice and marshmallows (I think eating them was the best part! HA!). And for some reason, I did it all with a British accent. HAAAAA! Jill, who works at Barnes & Noble was super nice -- and invited me back to read You Think It's Easy Being the Tooth Fairy? any time!
Monday
This past Saturday I dropped in at my new favorite children's independent book store, B Is For Books, for its grand opening. It's a wonderful place. Check it out for yourself. At first there were just a few kids there, but soon the place was mobbed! I've never seen so many kids, of all ages, get so excited about books! But owner Jane Bell says she and her hubby knew they'd come.
Look! I posed with the Wild Thing! Later I read my new picture book, You Think It's Easy Being the Tooth Fairy?, to a handful of kids. It was hard work keeping their attention with all the commotion going on. Don't you just love the honesty kids have? "I have to go now," said one little boy, when he'd had enough of me. Ah, well, I suppose the Tooth Fairy will grab his attention when he loses his first tooth! Thanks to everyone who bought my book! These two teachers took home five copies! YES!!!!
